‘Feast On Me’ is a dark love letter with a cannibalistic, zombie, vampire twist! Desire can eat you alive, so why not write a song where the desire is so strong that the main character actually wants to just be… physically… eaten alive.
Lyrically, there was a lot of fun word play to be had, describing the body parts and the slow, hungry process of consumption. Melodically, it’s very traditional. If not for the subject matter, you might well find this ballad on the soundtrack of a Disney movie. The vocal performance, I think, is best during the verses. The harmony works well to establish a haunting atmosphere, while the chorus and bridge match up with a standard love song. The contrast of the horror and the traditional, the pleasure and the pain, love and death – these are the meat and bones of the song. So, pick your teeth, then fall asleep!
